Leonard Hamm is the Director of Public Safety at Coppin State University, as well as a frequent speaker within the local community. Leonard is a former leader of the 13th largest police agency in the country, where he served the department for over 40 years.
Leonard grew up in Baltimore’s Cherry Hill neighborhood, and attended the renowned Baltimore City College High School. He would later become the first African American to command the Central District at the Baltimore Police Department.
He holds a number of certifications and has been published in multiple journals and magazines within the public safety arena. His latest book is entitled Hamm Rules.
